Why “Safe and Belonging”?
Central to my practice is creating an environment where gentleness, empathy, and care intertwine into a nurturing space for growth and self-discovery. The name was chosen intentionally, to hold the two values at the heart of how I work.
Safety is the ground everything else in our work stands on. Before we can look at anything hard, you need to know this is a place where your pace, your pauses, and your story are respected. Many of us grew up without that, in homes or relationships where safety was inconsistent or missing altogether. That's exactly why paying attetion to a sense of safety matters so much in therapy and also to the therapeutic alliance: because it's a chance to experience something steadier, and to bring your vulnerabilities and your history somewhere they'll be met with care and empathy, not with judgment.
Belonging speaks to our deep need for connection and to be accepted for who we are, how we look, or who we love. My practice is an inclusive, non-judgmental space to explore identity and history, rebuild connection, and reclaim that sense of belonging intrinsic to being human.
